The Nature Conservancy Video Animation
This project is a collaboration between the Native Plant Initiative (NPI) at South Dakota State University (SDSU), The Nature Conservancy (TNC), and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Although they have different missions, all of these organizations share a goal of promoting science-based conservation solutions for private and public grasslands.
In order the capture the natural scene of South Dakota accurately in the animated video, we learned about the common flora and fauna that live in South Dakota. The Client shared with us many images of wildflowers, grasses, and animals that make up the biodiversity in the state for inspiration. We created textured drawings of each plant and animal, each with their separate components (ie: individual petals of a flower and appendages of an insect) before bringing them to life with added motions.
