Through the month of February, Zeitgeist Arts Cafe hosted Black Duluth in History: The Life, The Work, The Fight. We played an integral role in shaping the exhibit.

The exhibit was a visual representation of an oral history project that started a couple of years ago. The project was supported by the Clayton Jackson McGhie Memorial Committee and led by Heidi Bakk-Hansen. We worked to curate and design the show; creating a compelling exhibit for folks to engage.

The project highlighted 12 Black elders, 3 historical figures, and some significant events in Black history around the nation. Each elder shared their experiences regarding their social lives, their employment, and their efforts to fight for representation.

If you want to see the exhibit, it will be traveling to different public places around the city. In the meantime, check out the video by Michelle Truax from Duluth.com.
